How to make
Cut the circle using the Olfa Circle rotary cutter. Adjust to 1-1/2″ giving us a 3″ wide circle in total – watch the video how to use the circle rotary cutter.
Thread needle. Hand baste around the outside edge about 1/4″ inside from the raw edge. Stuff with small amount of poly filling. Tighten baste and secure stitching tight.
Make two holes in the top bottle cap (not shown – watch video) – I used a fondue fork but any sharp object will work. Feed the elastic from the outside of the bottle cap towards the inside. Repeat on the other end of elastic so there is a nice loop on the outside cap (in the shape of a ring). Make sure it will fit your fingers or whomever else you are giving one to. If you plan to sell them make them about a size 7, that is the most common size. Tie a double knot on the elastic on the inside of the cap. Clip extra elastic off leaving about 1/4″ on each elastic end.
Fill the inside cap full of hot glue. Remember a low temp hot glue cools fast, so work quickly. Put glue along the inside edges too. Push the raw edge of the circle little puff inside the cap. Push and hold until glue is set. Add extra glue along the sides as needed.
Decorate with crystals, gems or fake rhinestones. Just glam up your DIY Ring pin Cushion. Have fun!
Wear, use, give and love your DIY Ring Pin Cushion.
