Snuggling up with a soft blanket on a chilly day, watching some good Netflix and sipping a warm cup of tea is my idea of a comforting night in. The Mink Sherpa Blanket from All About Blanks is a great blanket to use just for that evening in I described. Now, add a special embroidery design or monogram and you’re all set. In this blog post, I am going to show you how to add an embroidery design to the Mink Sherpa Blanket from All About Blanks like a Pro!

TOOL AND MATERIALS
- Mink Sherpa Blanket
- Placement and Marking kit from DIME
- Straight pins
- Magnetic pin cushion
- 75/11 Schmetz Embroidery needles
- Embroidery Thread
- Polymesh sheer cutaway stabilizer
- Wash away stabilizer
- Enchanted Monogram embroidery set
Gather all your tools and materials. Choosing a color of the super-soft Mink Sherpa blanket will be the hardest choice.
Choose a design, proper hoop and decide placement for the design on your blanket. The three obvious options are the center of the blanket, center along one side and one of the corners. I will be stitching my design in the corner. I used the Enchanted Monogram letter “H” in the 5″x7″ size and my BERNINA Oval hoop. I also used the Perfect Placement Kit from DIME to find the center of the design and placement for a cornered placement.
Hoop Polymesh sheer cutaway stabilizer. Open the zipper on the blanket and slip the hoop right side up into the blanket. Find placement and align with the hoop. Pin only the top layer of the blanket to the stabilizer. Be sure that the bottom (back) blanket portion is free from pins.
Going through the zipper, expose the hoop and attach it to the embroidery machine. Be sure the blanket is not under the hoop. Once the placement is good, place the wash away stabilizer over the top of the embroidery area. Set the speed of embroidery slow and remove pins as needed.
Once the embroidery is complete, remove from the machine.
Remove the hoop from materials and cut away the back Polymesh stabilizer leaving about 1/2″ all the way around the embroidery design.
Remove the top wash away stabilizer. Use a straight pin as needed. Any wash away stabilizer leftover can be washed away using a little warm water or the extra will come off in the first washing.
Once all the stabilizer has been addressed, close the zipper on the blanket and give as a gift or cozy up to.
