Does this Notion REALLY work? ~ Gloves in a Bottle
Does this Notion REALLY work? Or maybe today it should be called – Does this Lotion REALLY work? I am a lotion junkie probably applying at least 4-6 times a day. It seemed appropriate to give this Lotion a try. Let’s take a closer look at Gloves in a Bottle.
When did I first see Gloves in a Bottle?
A few months back I was out of town and like most of us, enjoy visiting quilt shops. I saw a little sample of this lotion, Gloves in a Bottle, and the staff invited me to take one and they all swore by it. I’m a lotion junkie. I probably apply lotion 4-6 times a day and honestly, I’m at the computer more than the sewing machine these days. But once I apply I have to walk around the house to left my hands dry and usually I’m left with greasy finger tips.

What I found interesting
The word Lotion makes me think of smooth hands, soft skin and waiting for it to soak in. Usually I add my lotion at the beginning of the day, get board waiting for it to sink in and “dry” and end up wiping it on my clothing or on a tissue. Gloves in a Bottle is referred to as a shielding lotion and it actually bonds with the outer layer of skin cells to create an invisible shield, like a pair of gloves. It will not wash off instead it comes off naturally with exfoliated skin cells in turn retaining your own natural moisture.
When was it invented?
Very interesting story. In the early 90’s the founder, Dan Mueller was involved in the mining industry. He noticed they were using a super thick cream under their gloves, just in case something seeped under the gloves. This thick gue protected their hands but was messy. After lots of experiments and working with doctors and chemist, Dan created the Gloves in a bottle shielding lotion.
Originally Gloves in a Bottle was sold in hardware, paint, art supply stores, garden centers and other specialty shops. Then a dermatologist used it to treat some patients with terrible skin conditions and that was a game changer for the brand. Patients with dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, dry, cracked skin didn’t want to go shopping at the local garden center and pick up a bottle of something recommended by their doctor, so eventually Gloves in a Bottle was brought in to pharmacies.
Gloves In A Bottle enhances the protective qualities of the outer layer of skin so well that it effectively keeps moisture-robbing irritants and elements out, while helping to retain the skin’s own natural moisture. Oh and it’s made in the USA!

How to use it?
Because I usually show how to use a notion, I felt it was needed for me to show the same thing. The only thing I want to point out is the instructions say apply every (4) hours and I felt it needed to be applied more often, 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Perhaps that is because I am use to a thicker lotion with more coverage but I just needed to apply more often.
Notion Lotion REALLY work?
After using the Gloves in a Bottle for one week I am enjoying how my hands feel. I think I need to use a little more than I normally use, but that could also be because old habits are hard to break. Perhaps after 30 days of regular use I can say using less is better. The way my hands are not greasy is a huge plus, I enjoy not having to rub off 1/2 the lotion I just applied, in essence, saving me money.
