~Olfa Circle Rotary Cutter – Notion Review~
Raise your hand if you have ever used a rotary cutter? Do you remember the first time you discovered what one was? I sure do. Let me tell you a brief story about my first rotary cutter and then dive into this awesome notion called, Circle Rotary Cutter.
My first Rotary Cutter
In high school I was obsessed with sewing. Most of it was garment construction, as my goal was to become a fashion designer. Once in awhile I would work on purses, home dec and even made some blankets. When I graduated from high school and I was Fashion Design School bound, my local church threw me a graduation party. I still have many of the treasured gifts from that fun event, but the one I remember the most was my first rotary cutter, mat and ruler. It was strange to me. I had never seen one let alone use one. I had to ask how to use the thing before my friend left the party. We took paper towels and I cut my first block next to the cake! What a fun memory.
What is the Olfa Circle Rotary cutter
This handy little yellow gadget was designed by Olfa, a leader in cutting solutions. They have been around many years and focus on new, comfortable and clever tools to help improve cutting. This particular rotary cutter is especially designed to cut circles. Perfect, consistent circles with minimal pressure on the wrist. The size can be from 1-1/2″ – 8-3/4″ (3.81cm-22.23cm).
How do I use it?
The circle rotary cutter sort of reminds me of a compass. Except where the pencil would go, is a blade to cut the materials. There are three parts to the tool which are very important.
- The Blade
- Pivot Spike
- Ratchet Handel

Where do I get one?
Lot’s of places. I saw one at the craft store even, so check with your local stores. If you need to buy on line, here are some places I found them.
The cutting mat I was using was the Olfa 12″ Spinning Rotary Mat.
